Our entire lives are spent chasing after wealth. Some are lucky to have been born with the proverbial golden spoon in their mouths. Many of these people end up leading disastrous lives because they do not know how to appreciate what they have.
If everyone learned to truly appreciate what they have, then we wouldn’t be in such a horrible mess because so many people are just trying to keep up with neighbors. You want a bigger and better car, larger swimming pool, bigger television set etcetera… How often do we take time out to sit down and appreciate all the things we have: food, a roof over our heads, being able to see, having 2 arms and legs and the simple things around us. The beauty of nature, blue skies and many other blessings given to us by god cost nothing!
Any of these things may be taken away from us without warning and then your life will just change into a struggle for survival. It’s irresponsible people take out bigger bonds on their homes to buy a brand new car so that they can be in with it and the envy of everyone else. People max out credit cards to make sure they have the hippest clothes, the smartest phones and niftiest gadgets. What happened to being responsible with the hard earned salary or wages that you earn and living within your means? There are people out there that struggle just to eat yet you will find some of them are really happy with what they have. Strange isn’t it?
Don’t spoil your children; teach them to be thankful….
How few parents these days teach their own kids about appreciating what they have. At Christmas in the past, children would open up presents and expect to get toys and games from father Christmas and no matter what they got they would be thrilled. But kids today think they are entitled to certain toys, expensive gadgets and whatever their minds come up with, because the other kids at school have it too? This means little Johnny will also grow up being unappreciative of what he is blessed with! Maybe it’s because you are the same way as well and they don’t appreciate what they have, and this in turn passes down to your children.
If you spend your whole time trying to keep up with the Joneses as the saying goes, you will never be satisfied and always will feel like there’s something missing in your life. There’s nothing wrong with owning a smart cars or a Jacuzzi but the fact that you think you are entitled to one is when it becomes a problem. Appreciate the fact that you have it and enjoy it to the maximum.
Not everyone can be rich but everyone has the chance to be happy. It starts by really appreciating the little things in life…..
